On Back Pages Tonight, Sam Wallace and Jonathan Liew discussed the big stories in F1 ahead of the final race of the season.

Lewis Hamilton has denied Christian Horner’s claims that he reached out over a potential switch from Mercedes, and says the Red Bull team principal attempted to arrange a meeting with him.

Horner claimed in an interview published on Wednesday that a representative of Hamilton had approached Red Bull earlier this year before the seven-time champion signed his two-year Mercedes contract renewal in August.

  1. The actual quote was that people around Hamilton inquired about a potential seat at Red Bull Racing, and considering Hamilton was out of contract at the end of the season, it’s nit far fetched to think he wouldn’t ask the most dominant team under current regulations. Think he’s embarrassed now that they didn’t entertain the idea, and considering how he’s performed last two seasons with 0 wins and most crashes of any driver, I don’t blame Red Bull Racing. Would like to see someone like Norris alongside Max, though.

  2. Thinking about the shitbox on wheels that was Mercedes the last 2 years, I'm thinking there could be some truth to this story… Hamilton would want to drive the best car and Red Bull really don't need him to win anything with Verstappen as their main driver

  3. A bit ironic for Max to say its about the sport not the show, given what happened at the end of 2021 – which was all show focused. I do agree with the sentiment though, but there again most mainstream sports are as much about the show as the sport.

  4. It would be a dream Varstappen and Hamilton in the same team 👀and on the other hand i think Verstappen would like a competition from Hamilton so that it would put a end to which one of them is the best driver! As a fan of F1 that would be a cherry on top of the cake 😉😍

  5. How time changed right? Christian Horner was talking sh*t about Lewis Hamilton in order to embarrass him and to ridicule his achievements. Now Mr Horner is fighting for his career, he knows he is finished in F1 Motorsport. This is for sure Geri's worst nightmare. She socially climbed very hard to become his wife. No invites to the British aristocracy, no invites to cocktail parties, no more high society parties. And worst of all No Drive To Survive cameos.
